The core question: What do we focus on, and why?
MAP is the strategy layer.
It is where the promise becomes focus. It answers what gets time, attention, money, and energy now, and what does not.
Every system has more possible work than it can actually carry. MAP is what keeps that from turning into drift. It forces sequence. It forces tradeoffs. It forces honesty about what the work is really serving.
The clean test is simple: can this priority be traced back to the promise? If not, it may still be interesting. It is just not aligned.
Individual
Your MAP is what you are actually committing to this quarter, this month, and this week in service of your larger direction.
Community
A community's MAP shows up in its programming, its investments, the work it makes visible, and what it chooses to organize around.
Venture / AI system
A venture's MAP shapes product bets, hiring, and resource allocation. An AI system's MAP shapes what gets prioritized, what gets refused, and how constraints are ordered.
A weak MAP creates motion without compounding.
Too many priorities means no real priority. Teams stay active, but the work fragments. The system loses force because attention keeps getting split.
A strong MAP makes the work directional and easier to execute.
